There are times where the GOFAR app won't connect to the adapter or it just won't run in the background, which could cause missing trips and missing location details.

Sometimes this is due to a setting on Android phone that needs to be enabled for the GOFAR app to work properly in the background. You will need to add the GOFAR app to the phone's protected apps.

This option tends to be in different places of the Android OS, depending on the manufacturer. Some brands do not have this setting at all.

As an example of where this setting can be found, here are the steps in order to add GOFAR app to the phone's protected apps on a Samsung Galaxy S8 running Android 9:

Step 1:

Open up Settings on your device and select Device Care (or a similar field name)

Step 2:

Tap on the "Battery" option

Step 3:

Tap on "Power mode" and ensure an option is selected that doesn't limit all Background functions.

Note: Earlier versions of Android (e.g. Android 6, 7, 8) may also list apps here which have limited background usage in line with the Operating System's "Doze" feature. Ensure that GOFAR is not included in the list of restricted apps.

Step 4:

Tap on "GOFAR" on the previous screen (the first screenshot shown in Step 3) and ensure that the app has been granted permission to run Background, and has not been restricted any access
